Join AFSA for a private visit to Villa Finale, the historic King William home of San Antonio preservationist and collector Walter Nold Mathis.
Mathis spent decades filling his home with art and decorative objects from around the world, with a particular fascination for France, Napoleon, and European decorative arts. Today, Villa Finale houses more than 12,000 objects, from paintings and furniture to silver, music machines, and an extensive collection of Napoleonic memorabilia.
During our visit, we’ll explore the beautifully restored 1876 Italianate home and learn more about Mathis, his collections, and the French pieces that found a place in his very personal museum.
After the tour, those who would like to continue the afternoon together can join us for an optional lunch at La Frite Belgian Bistro,
a family-owned restaurant in Southtown serving Belgian and French bistro classics. Lunch is not included in the tour price.
