Spend a Sunday afternoon at the San Antonio Museum of Art with fellow AFSA members and friends. Our guided tour will take us through New African Masquerades: Artistic Innovations and Collaborations, SAMA's first major African art exhibition in over 20 years.
The exhibition brings together the work of four contemporary artists from West Africa — including Hervé Youmbi from Cameroon — presenting thirteen full-body masquerade ensembles made from wood, textiles, beads, feathers, and shells, alongside immersive video. It's a rare and remarkable look at masquerade as a living, contemporary art form.
